Introduction to Desktop Screen in Windows 11 (All Concepts )

1. Desktop :

Desktop is primary user interface that user see when logged in the pc. Primary screen interface is called as the desktop where we can create folders apps shortcuts to access the folders and apps quickly.

2. Desktop Wallpaper :

It is the background image for desktop, that makes it attractive.

Wallpaper can be static and dynamic. For example image can be considered as static and the dynamic views/videos or slides of images can be considered as dynamic views.

3. Folders :

Folders are the directories to store folders, video, audio, text or file with any extensions.

• Select folder on which you want to perform action.
• Right click on folder to show options like to copy, rename, cut, open with or compress etc.
• Or double click left mouse button to directly open the folder. 

 4. App/Folder Shortcuts :

App shortcuts or folder shortcuts allows you to save the shortcuts on the desktop to your app or folders on the drive. When you are on desktop it will make you easier to find/open the specific location or application.

• To add shortcut to the desktop select the folder/app from its original location.
• Click right mouse button, and select 'create shortcut'.
• Note : If you are using windows 11 , select 'show more options' then click on 'create shortcut'.
• Then it will create the shortcut in that window.
• Then Cut (Ctrl +X) and Paste (Ctrl +V) it on the desktop.
• After that , you can click on the shortcut to open it from the desktop.

5. Selection Plane :

Selection pane is the area that will select all the apps/folders/objects in that pane. Actions can be performed for multiple objects. 

For actions,

• Then right click on the area options list will be displayed.
• Click on the action you want to perform.
• Like Cut, Copy or Compress.

6. Taskbar :

Taskbar is the bar where all the active tasks or open windows are shown. You can pin/add your favorite application shortcuts to the taskbar to quick access to them. Your recent searches are also can be viewed on the 'Search' tab.

• To edit settings of the taskbar, right click on mouse.
• Then, click on the Taskbar setting.
• You can edit the taskbar settings according to your interests.

7. Notification Window :

It is the window where you receive all the notifications from system or other applications. You can also edit notifications in that tab.

8. Quick Actions :

Quick actions tab is very useful on the desktop. It is used for access the multiple services in the desktop.

•  Wi-fi  services to connect with other devices.
• Bluetooth : To connect and share the file with other devices.
•  Airplane Mode 
• Battery saver mode
• Hotspot
• Sharing to Projector or casting options.
• Nearby sharing option.

9. Recycle Bin :

Recycle bin is the dustbin of the computer/laptop where all the things you delete like folders/files/video or audios are stored when you delete from your computer. When you delete anything it is temporarily deleted and stored in the recycle bin.

If files are deleted permanently then it will not be stored in the Recycle bin.

    For editing the desktop, to personalize desktop according to your taste Right click on the blank space .Then you can select/edit the settings of desktop.

Desktop is most powerful user interface to interact with the laptops/PC's.
